Troop 264 is an active troop, planning and participating in outdoor activities such as camping at least once a month.  There are also various community service projects, some repeated, some one time only, throughout the year that scouts can be a part of, some of which can count for Student Service Learning (SSL) hours in the Montgomery County Schools and elsewhere.  Optional BSA Youth Leadership Training is available to interested scouts.

The troop consists of approximately 70 boys and girls ranging in age from 11 to 17 years old (6th to 12th grade).  The pinnacle of the Scouting experience for the scout to make Eagle scout.  Scouts work on meeting their requirements at their own pace with help from older scouts and adult leaders. Troop 264 are very fortunate to have a large number of adults that assist in many different ways, as trained leaders, merit badge counselors, arranging outings, activities, fundraising, etc. (thanks, parents!).  There are many ways to help.

Older scouts (with proper training, of course) are eligible to participate in High Adventure outings such as whitewater rafting, Seabase in Florida, or Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

All youth between 11 and 17 are welcome (parents too) to visit or join Troop 264.  The troop meets at St. John's Church on MD Route 108 in the center of Olney (just west of MD Route 97 / Georgia Avenue) at 7:30 PM on Monday evenings.  Mr. Dennis Bogan is Troop 264's Scoutmaster, while Mr. Nick Hrabak is Acting Scoutmaster.

Younger youth (elementary school) and their parents may want to consider Cub Scouts, which can provide a strong and fun foundation for moving up to Scouts in just a few years.  However, boys or girls do not have to be Cub Scouts before they can join Scouts.
